Every landscaping project we take on begins with a thorough on-site consultation. We visit the property, walk the full space with the homeowner or property manager, and ask the questions that determine what the landscape actually needs to deliver, how the space gets used, what the maintenance expectations are, what design styles resonate, what the budget parameters are, and what the existing conditions present in terms of soil composition, drainage, sun exposure, and irrigation infrastructure. That conversation shapes everything that follows, and we do not abbreviate it regardless of how simple a project looks on the surface.
From the site visit we develop a complete landscape design plan mapping the entire space, plant placement, ground cover selection, hardscape elements, irrigation zones, grading requirements, and any drainage solutions the site conditions require. Houston properties frequently present grading and drainage challenges that need to be addressed before planting begins, particularly given the city's clay soils and significant rainfall events that can flood poorly graded landscapes. We incorporate those solutions into the design plan rather than treating them as separate work handled after the landscape is already installed.
Material sourcing is handled by our team through established relationships with regional nurseries and suppliers that carry Texas native plants, drought-tolerant species, native grasses, waterwise shrubs, and hardscape materials that perform reliably in Houston's Gulf Coast climate. We source plant material that is proven to establish and perform here, arriving at your property healthy and ready to grow rather than stressed from inappropriate growing conditions or poor handling.
Grading, soil preparation, and amendment work precede planting on every project we complete. Houston's clay-heavy soils require specific preparation that directly affects how well plants establish and how efficiently irrigation water reaches root zones. According to the Texas Water Development Board, outdoor landscape irrigation accounts for approximately 30 percent of residential water use in Texas on average, and properties that convert to properly designed water-wise landscaping see that figure reduce meaningfully once the installation is complete and established.
